LFW 2011- part 1 event overview

LAKME FASHION WEEK with all its madness and frenzied fashion was here once again this season. The same old venue, the same models, the same choreographer, the same musician, the same staff members ......but with a fresh approach, new talent and refrshing sumer resort fashion.

This is a first look preview of all the action and drama at the fashion week.

first starting with the event overview.....what did the place look like !!!

The lakme studio- anyone for a free makeover !!!

 

The lounge area - kingfisher lounge(everyone is invited)

blenders pride lounge -invited who me ?...naah...

BURN -the energy drink- comes up with installation garments. Made out of waste cans its surely a feast for the eye.

The backyard at grand hyatt - the so called smoking lounge

the connecting pathway between the hotel and the stall area "The Source"

"The Source"- designer stall area and the fashion cafe (the only place to kill your hunger for five long days)

The stalls- this time around space got crunchier and stalls were like cabinets...thank god they dint have doors !!

MY TRINKLET BOX

Over the years during my colege days i maintained a trinklet box where in all the collectables were kept....pins, wires, laces, buttons etc,...all things that were handpicked from various places that i travelled.....opening up that box is like a trip down the memory lane .....remebering the times spent in the very formative years...

The hippie travellers that we were .....color attracts first to the eye ...even if it be a simple stone....color is what diffrentiates one thing from other ....

restructuring things ..putting things together....buttons and beads and pompoms and lace ....

fabric cutings and buttons and beads become wearables .....one good substitute for the usual clothing.....

The trinklet box at last proves its worth ...its worth every penny invested..!!!

Fashion is like architecture..its a matter of propotions .....

The "Amdavad Ni Gufa" done by hussain and doshi in ahmedabad is a quiet place which is a celebration of the modern spiritual world what we experience today.
Located  undergound , it is an art lovers paradise for those seeking some inspiration.

Interplay between opacity and tansparency. seams that blur the divide between ornamentation and functionality. playing with construction and deconstruction , commanding fluid forms into structured elements.

light , fresh, simple , clean lines and miles of detailing....

The finest clothing made is a person's skin. but of course society demands something more than this.

SILENCE IN CHAOS

The "Amdavad Ni Gufa" done by hussain and doshi in ahmedabad is a quiet place which is a celebration of the modern spiritual world what we experience today.
Located  undergound , it is an art lovers paradise for those seeking some inspiration.

Two diffrent regions, two contrasting cultures two diffrent languages but what joins them is the sole purpose of  making the best out of the waste generated by their respected organisations.
"The southern Tsunamika v/s The western Dhingli "

 Tsunamika by Upasana from auroville is a doll generated out of waste fabrics made  by women deprived shelter due to the Tsunami in the southern region of india.It is a living symbol fulfilling social responsibility.

The "Dhingli " by gramshree an NGO based in gujarat is made by women living under the poverty line and is used by the tailors across the organisation and also as a gift. The tailors use it as a cushion pad to keep pins thread ,safety pins and buttons etc and all other tailoring materials. Wow wat a gr8 idea to keep the tailors stylish !!
