BAGWATI : Point Lace collab

"Table for three - You, Me and my BAG"

Ladies handbags are not just mere carriers of female possessions. They 're beautiful, elegant and can do wonders for your outfit and confidence. Most women would love to own a warehouse of these in all possible colors and designs but we're not all that blessed. But you can atleast set out to extend your collection as much as you can.

Sonam must be having enough bags to fill an entire room ! Baguettes, satchels, totes , hobo's.....you name it and she has it! Getting confused with what are all these? Lets take a sneak peak to brush ourselves on some Bagwati lingo !

The Baguette
Mmm, Baguettes. Unfortunately, here we're referring to the rectangular bag and not the crispy, toasted 12" long bread.Very functional and utilitarian, the baguette bag occupies a special space in the hearts of working women.

The Bucket

With a long strap and usually an open top, the bucket bag can very definitely be described as  feminine an chic. It is sufficiently roomy and wide enough to encompass all the essentials.

The clutch

Ah, the clutch . An essential part of every woman's wardrobe, the clutch is for the minimalistic woman. With only enough space for credit cards, lipstick, cash and identity, the clutch presents no hassles and is easy to carry around.

The Envelope

Sure to make a style statement on any occasion, the envelope bag is so named because of its flap which folds over much like the flap of an envelope. Alia Bhatt carries an envelope with much ease in the movie Student Of the Year !

The Hobo

The name sure does give away a lot about this bag's personality. But let's not start judging just yet. The hobo bag has a long shoulder strap and a  single, wide compartment that is perfect for a college- going girl to keep all her books in.

The Sling

Casually slung across one shoulder, the sling bag is very outdoorsy and perfect for days when you don't want to be worried about trudging around with a heavy bag. It also gives off a very
 summery , flirty vibe.

The Miniaudiere

Extremely classy and jazzy, the miniaudiere is smaller that a clutch and usually shimmery, being encased in sequins, precious stones and diamonds. Due to its elegance and the obvious eyeball popping price tag, it is conventionally showcased on nights when limousines are
 rented !

The Satchel

The Satchel bag has always been unfairly classified as a mundane, common place bag with no chic factor. But this is not true. Satchels can be incredibly edgy and trendy when chosen in the right color and paired with the right outfit. It's all about the mix and match !

The Athletic

The name itself is a dead giveaway. The athletic bag is spacious because it is usually stuffed with smelly gym socks and clothes. But now its making a cut through in the wardrobes of fashionistas with slings, hobo and tote styles. Not to forget our yoga bag which is getting a fun makeover day by day !

The Tote

Saving the best for the last,we have the tote bag which is every woman's favourite. Easily the largest kind of bag on the list , the tote is held dear by women worldwide because no matter how stuffed it already is, there's always room to fit in an extra hairbrush or a bottle of vodka. Hey, no one's judging. Your secret's safe in the tote !

Lastly, take good care of your bags and they are sure to make you happy for a long time ! Or you can employ your man to take care of your asset like Farhan Akhtar (seen in pic) in the movie Zindagi Na Milege Doobara !

Inde pop : Traces of Raja ravi verma

“There are painters who transform the sun to a yellow spot, but there are others who with the help of their art and their intelligence, transform a yellow spot into sun”
Such was the power of india's first celebrated artist Raja Ravi Verma. From being india's homegrown god of popular culture to redefining the way we look at women, Raja Ravi Verma has made his presence in every household in india.
From the calendars to films, to brands copying his art for the weirdest of products like cigarettes, alcohol, pan masala, to books and our pooja rooms...Ravi verma is all pervasive.

So lets take a journey down the memory lane when every artist was inspired with his style and every brand tried to copy him.

Old vintage boxes with indian gods and goddesses.

Original Raja rav verma paintings have been displayed at a number of places including the recently concluded Piramal museum of art, Mumbai.

The sheer sensuality of the women calls for a dekho again !

Since times immemorial our pooja books shout his art loud.

Our calendars have been the same since ages not willing to change styles at all !

Books have had Raja Ravi Verma inspired covers before fancy photography, photoshop and photoshoots came into existence.

If you have grown up before the nineties then you would have surely come across one of them either at school , library or could be  gift from your relative too !

Come diwali and we all want to burst fire crackers ! Have you ever seen the packaging? Ravi Verma's art has found place there too !

Yesteryears Pear's soap box has a straight edition of ravi verma paintings ! They tried to portray that a woman could be as beautiful if you use the soap ! We have now replaced Aishwarya and katrina with these devis !

Pooja products have been using his art always and will do so till infinity! The agarbatti, sindhur, Kapur, oil etc used in pooja/havan are still packaged in his art.

Modern incense sticks are trying to give away the goddess pictures but the style of imagery still remains the same.

Our kitchen was also not refrained from his art. Everyday life was distinctly painted even on groundnut oil !

Papad ! From bikaneri varieties to the traditional appllam, Papad manufactures have been inspired by gods. Brands like "Ganesh papad", "shree Ram papad", "hanuman papad" have all been cashing on cheap knock offs of the masters work .

I wonder why gutka, beedi , pan masala, khaini etc would use his art ? Probably to remember god before doing anything wrong?

School stationery kept the kids in a happy mood !

The old saffron boxes have always had laxmi / saraswati/ parvati etc painted on them.

Brands like "laxmi cheap Kesar" have been widely popular.

Soap ads also had his art work!

We indians have always been god fearing people. From the endless religions to this country offers to the various festivals that we all celebrate together, our lives sorrows and joys have moved around religion. We lights diyas on diwali and candles for christmas, burns ravan on dusherra and maintain a fast for ramzan. Mythology has always intrigues the people in the country and hence the POPULAR thought has been cashed in rightly by Raja ravi verma truly.
The king of indie pop our lives still revolve around the subjects he painted over a century ago !

50 shades of red : MARSALA

“If I could tell you about Red,  I would sing to you of fire Sweet like cherries,  Burning like cinnamon Smelling like a rose in the sun”
Marsala, the pantone color of the year 2015, has found its presence even before its official announcement. We take you through a journey of this color in all walks of life.

The versatile color has found a place in glossy cosmetics as well as the earthy walls of our house. Its texture appeals the fabrics as well semi precious jewels.

Its difficult to exactly define MARSALA , but anything between maroon and red with a little hint of rust could be its definition. Though at some places hues and shades could range from redddish brown to reddish purple also.

auburn, red, ginger, and burnt red are totally on the radar this year.

The Duchess of Cambridge has been often criticized for her drab taste in dressing, which has been proven ill-founded as she emerges as the Kaleidoscopic Kate.
